Airlines and the hospitality industry are hoping to calm travellers’ uncertainty as a result of the Omicron variant, as well as the government’s advisory to avoid international travel. While many travel insurance policies are voided due to the advisory, Air Canada and WestJet offer deluxe insurance packages which cover medical and quarantine expenses related to COVID-19 even with the non-essential travel advisory in place on top of further flexibility options now offered by the airlines. Many hotels and resorts are offering onsite COVID-19 testing, with some even offering discounted PCR tests and free antigen tests for guests.
