The Incredible Speed Santa Needs

In just one short night on Christmas Eve, Santa has to deliver presents to millions of homes around the world. Calculating the payload of nine reindeer and all the packages makes estimating the speed of delivery a complex process. Many talented math whizzes have estimated the basic number of houses Santa visits, the landmass that needs to be covered, along with the 10 hour delivery, to get a rough idea of speed required. Science Focus came to the conclusion that Santa must travel at a speed of 4.7 million kilometres per hour to deliver all his presents by Christmas morning. Peanuts.
