Some 100 excited agents boarded the Celebrity Eclipse for a VIP ship tour this weekend during the Solstice Class ship’s inaugural sailing into Vancouver.

The arrival of the Eclipse, which is operating weekly cruises to Alaska, marks the first time the cruise line has positioned one of its Solstice Class ships in the city.

“We really want to introduce our Solstice Class ships to the travel professionals in Vancouver,” explained Brenda Lynne Yeomans, Celebrity Cruises strategic market manager for Canada. “Placing a Solstice Class ship in Vancouver shows our confidence in our travel partners -- that they’re able to sell a much larger ship on a regular basis out of their own backyard. They have been asking for us to move a Solstice Class ship here for many years now, so this dream is finally realized.”

However, it’s soon to be all-change for the Eclipse, as the ship will go into dry dock in Singapore on 21NOV, 2020, to be transformed into an ‘Edge’ class ship, as part of the cruise line’s $500 million ‘Celebrity Revolution’ fleet overhaul. Every ship in the fleet will be modernized by 2023.

Changes to the Eclipse will include:

  • A hot tub on The Retreat Sundeck
  • The Retreat Lounge replacing Michael’s Club
  • Refreshed staterooms
  • New stateroom technology,
  • New veranda & pool furniture
  • Craft Social replacing Gastrobar
  • An enhanced lawn club with six new alcoves & an outdoor movie screen
  •  Refreshed seating area in the Passport Bar
  • Le Petit Chef featuring Tablemation
  • Hull repainting

“After touring the Eclipsein Vancouver, our agents can now have the confidence to sell all five of our Solstice Class ships -- wherever they are in the world -- knowing that their customers will be sailing in modern luxury with world class service,” added Yeomans.

“The Celebrity Eclipsereally is perfect in every way as she is now, so we wanted the agents to see this – and then wonder -- how we could possibly make it even better!”

The Celebrity Eclipse docks at Canada Place, Vancouver.
