Club Med, traditionally known as the crème de la crème of all-inclusive sun resorts, is taking off for Canada, eh.
That major milestone along with other firsts was presented at a swanky soiree in Toronto’s Distillery District. The invitees were treated to canapés and bubbles, all in classy Club Med style.
Breaking New Ground
Celebrating the launch of its 2018-2019 season, Carolyne Doyon, Senior VP, Canada & Mexico, described Club Med as trailblazers with pioneer spirit, as she announced that ground has been broken for first Exclusive Collection Club Med resort to open in the Caribbean in 25 years. The Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda resort in the Dominican Republic will open DEC 2019.
Set on a pristine beach just a 75-minute drive from Punta Cana, the resort will feature “eco-chic architecture” and luxury amenities. For Club Med, the D.R. not only attracts North American clientele, but also many Europeans – about half of all guests at Club Med Punta Cana.
When asked why Club Med chose to open a new resort in Punta Cana, Doyon said: “Punta Cana is our biggest resort in terms of capacity, along with our resort in Italy. The fact that there is high demand, and it is easily accessible, it was only natural for us to look for another property. The Dominicans are so welcoming, great people with great culture and good level of service. So it’s a pleasure for us to have another property there.”
Sorry, Not Sorry Snowball Fight
When you think of sending clients to the slopes, you think the Rockies, right? Club Med wants you to think past the moose tracks and beaver dams, and set your sights on the French Alps. It presented a not-so-apologetic video entitled, “Sorry Rockies: This year, We’re Skiing The Alps.” A key feature of the video is Club Med’s Les Arcs Panorama, set to open in December 2018 in one of the biggest ski areas in the world, in the French Alps near the Swiss and Italian borders.
Club St Laurent?
But not so fast Alps, Club Med Québec Charlevoix is coming! The first Club Med in Canada is opening in December 2020 and promises a year-round vacation experience. “We couldn’t do this without the support from our business partners.” Said Doyon, “Your expertise, your knowledge, your passion will be key for us to continue our success together.”
Club Med Is For Corporate Clients Too
With the launch of Worktainment, Club Med is seeking to reshape how meeting and event travel looks and feels. Corporate groups can start their day with a yoga lesson on a sun-filled ocean view terrace, or take part in a team-building scavenger hunt. Club Med’s message is that enriching corporate retreats motivate and encourage employee retention while offering a chance to collaborate on projects and build closer relationships.
