Carnival Cruises Endures Tragic Bacon Shortage

Carnival Cruises bacon

Guests on Carnival Cruises are wondering who is responsible for ‘bringing home the bacon.’

The cruise line is temporarily moving to an every-other-day bacon schedule at its Lido Buffet. This dramatic move of rationing rashers will apply across the entire fleet.

While the breakfast offering remains as vast as ever, pity the F&B Director who has to explain to cruise guests with high expectations why there’s no bacon available today.

As they say, you can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear. For some, only bacon will make their vacation perfect. Even if it will be back on the menu tomorrow.

The problem? “We purchase thousands of pieces of bacon every week, and the people that supply us and the cruise industry are having some challenges sourcing bacon for our ships at the moment,” Carnival cruise line ambassador John Heald said in a live Facebook video.

There was no indication if the problem is related to the swift restart of cruising that has been a logistics nightmare for cruise lines having to transition from full stop for a year and a half, to having all the moving parts of navigation and hotel operations on ships working at full ‘boar’.

Thankfully, the ‘Great Bacon Shortage’ doesn’t apply to other, similarly delicious breakfast meats like ham or sausage.

Plus, the cruise line says the bacon supply chain will be delivering at capacity in a week so all of Carnival’s cruisers can breathe a sigh of relief as they won’t have to wait long for the return of their daily rashers.

That just might ‘save the bacon’ of the food staff on ships facing meat-loving cruise guests.
