"WARMEST HOODIE EVER"

In a New Marketing Gag, Swoop Launches A Line of Hoodies - That Include a Flight South

On 22FEB, Swoop announced the launch of a clothing line called Swoopwear, with its debut product coined as "The Warmest Hoodie Ever." While the hoodie itself is a simple cotton and polyester blend, Swoop says it's "the warmest ever" because each limited-edition hoodie comes with round-trip airfare to a sun destination of the purchaser's choice.

"The Warmest Hoodie Ever" is CAD $99 before tax and quantities are limited to 100 hoodies, and purchasers receive a CAD $500 flight voucher. Full terms and conditions can be found on Swoop's web site.

That may be pricey for your average hoodie, but cheap for an airline ticket to a sun destination.

"Our travellers often remark on how their Swoop flights cost less than 'a pair of designer jeans; or "a tank of gas'. We decided to bring this concept to life with the introduction of the Warmest Hoodie Ever," said David Giovando, Group Creative Director.

Just how far can you fly on your hoodie? Swoop notes that it offers 100 flights weekly to 13 vacation destinations across the U.S., Mexico, and the Caribbean.

While Swoop does concede that yes, all hoodies are pretty warm, the warm feeling of getting a cheap flight might be a bit more satisfying than putting on your favourite sweater on a cold winter day.

However, anyone looking to get in on the hoodie-for-a-flight marketing gag have already been iced out: the hoodies sold out almost instantly.  You'll have to find other ways to stay warm this winter.
