Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

Rumour Has It The Rumour Is Over

The longest courtship in retail history has been consummated. Yes, Pumpkins, 8 years of rumours have ended with Sears finally getting Cooked. At least that’s the rumour. Gawd, it must’ve felt good to let that one fly. If I’m teased for longer than 8 minutes I get cranky.

Details at the time of publication are sketchy – mostly poached from Quebec’s Tourisme Plus. It goes something like this: Thomas Cook is hooking up with Sears. There are no marriage plans at this time – just some sketchy form of intercourse. Whatever. My minions inform me that the new venture would be headed by Flemming Friisdahl and that Amr Younis is slated to take over Flemming’s current position.

And, ooh! The size of it! Sears’ 110 outlets will bring the number of TCook affiliated retailers to 160. The reinforced distribution is sure to boost Sunquest’s growth which, at a reported 2%, could use a little augmentation. Honestly, some quarters would almost call that shrinkage. But from what I can tell, nobody’s sitting that pretty out there. It’s getting so there’s less and less meat on the bone to fight over.

I don’t know, dahrlings. As far as I’m concerned you guys should all stop beating each other off and focus on consumers -- getting them to fork over the real value of a holiday.
