As the Easter Bunny hops into a wet spring, I’m reminded that among the sulfurious ones strewn about travel, lay a few extra-large good eggs.
Almost every tour op has at one time or another put their tails into action to whisk supplies or people to a safe nest.
And then there are the quiet hatchings of little Pumpkins all over this great chicken coop we call Canada. Marlin Travel’s Donnalea Madeley -- chosen as Godmother of Liberty of the Seas because of her Hands Across The Nations charitable work in building schools and medical facilities. Just something this busy bee does ‘on the side’. Or Grand Prairie Pumpkin David Biltek who sprang into action with a local fundraiser on the heels of Japan’s devastation. Or the hundreds of employers who hop the extra mile to support their staff – like Jonathan Jackrabbit Carroll who quietly extended medical benefits to a previous employee diagnosed with terminal cancer, allowing her and her companion to spend their final days together back home in Scotland. And, in a league of his own, do-gooder Surjit Babra has even been named Mother Theresa Humanitarian of the Year. No small feat for a Sikh to be called a Catholic Saint.
I myself have been known to lay an egg once in a while. On these very pages.
