Mad dogs and Englishmen should stay out of the Canadian sun market. The Canadian ITC hall of shame is lined with the mugs of many a U.K. leader sent over here to straighten out our “irrational” market, only to run back to mother England with their tail between their legs.
Now that TUI and TCook local offshoots are run by Canucks, we’re seeing what mastering the stick really means.
To wit, the Sunwing Group has saved Long’s Tuishy by delivering the only bright light in an otherwise dismal set of numbers. If it weren’t for Hunter & Sons, TUI’s half year financials would have seen wide losses – as opposed to the ‘narrower’ ones they’re boasting about.
You may say that thumbing my nose at our founders is no way for a colonial to behave. Oops, there I go again, Pumpkins. Frankly, I do feel badly that the U.K. market is so irrational – but how can one not exhibit national pride in our home boys?
The bottom line is, the beaver is our national animal. Best leave gnawing at the Canadian wilderness to us.
