Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

Would You Like To Swing On A Pole?

Depending on your ethnic background, dahrlings, pole dancing can mean different things to different people.

In Auckland, New Zealand, swinging on a pole is the latest hot marketing initiative for the world’s oldest profession. It seems that ladies (and wannabe ladies) of the night, are doing a little pole dancing to attract customers... using street signs for their impromptu props.

But, instead of applauding their chutzpah, city officials are bemoaning the loss of poles – some 40 of them to date.

Apparently, some of the painted ladies are “big, strong people” who may not be anatomically correct in the female sense. Pumpkins, when these big broads swing on a pole, the pole sometimes loses its rigidity and hangs limply.

It does happen to even the best, I’m told... though never on my watch!

What on earth does this have to do with selling travel, you ask? Well dahrlings, apart from the fact that we’re in the summer doldrums and Newsboy is pulling out his greying hair trying to find informative nuggets for you, I do think there’s something in this.

When times are slow and competition is fierce, it’s time to pull out all the stops (or STOP signs). Pumpkins, if you’ve got a window, use it. Take down those fading posters and Max Ward cutouts, grab a street sign and let it all hang out.

The OTAs can’t touch this one. And the home-based will only be annoying their neighbours.

You’ve got it girlfriends, so flaunt it!
