Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

Travel Much?

I’m nothing if not patient, Pumpkins, but flying really yanks my thong.

Anyone remember ‘checking in’? It used to mean you showed up at a counter where a person welcomed you, took your luggage, and gave you a boarding card.

Now you get to check in online from the comfort of your home. Presto changeo, all done! No more standing in line at the airport (not to check-in, anyway). All you have to do at the airport is wait in line for a nifty dandy airline automated kiosk. Key-in all your check in info again. Scan your passport. Pull out your credit card, pay for your luggage, print your receipt and print one of those cool sticky taggy things. Honestly, how do they do it?

All that’s left now is to stand in line for the check in counter, oops… I mean ‘baggage drop’ counter. This may take a little longer while the folks in front of you argue about the weight of their bags and repack their suitcases. But none of this affects me, dahrlings, because I checked in on line and that’s a wonderful thing.

If the airlines introduce any more automated self-serve conveniences, we’ll have to take turns calling for missing passengers and brew the coffee (after keying-in all the necessary info, of course).
