Excuse me, dahrlings, but...

Well, Selfie Me!

I always say, Pumpkins, if someone won’t do you, it’s your responsibility to do yourself. And that’s just what Travel Agent Day was for years. A pizza slice and a slap on the back from your manager. Maybe a twizzler.

Those sad sac celebrations are a thing of the past, dahrlings. Suppliers are jumping on the Travel Agent Day phenom faster than paparazzi on a Kardashian badonkadonk.

WestJet has taken a page out of my birthday book and is stretching a one day miracle into a month long T.A. tribute. Recognizing the services of those who daily face the dangers of consumer travel angst. All but forgotten down in the muddy deal trenches. Climbing over the bloated corpses of dead airlines, tour operators, and commissions. God help us.

Not to worry! There are prizes. Seminars. Pens. And, most importantly, WestJet has a campaign for res staff to show some respect. There’s been training on the value of TA’s. That's right. Training. The logos of all the retailer groups are pasted around the call centre – along with the fab tag line “Hurray for TA’s!” That’s us, Pumpkins. God I’m easy. A little flattery and I’m greasing up the ankle straps.

So then AC noticed, and has launched a classy champagne ad thanking us. Hey Calin! With those gazillions you make, send over some real bubbly. You’re welcome!

And the ever gentle ladies at Globus have upped the ante and are fêting for a year. Right now, agents can book an Avalon river cruise for 70% off. I can never resist a great sale.

Oh, and ACTA sent a memo.

As the movement grows and takes on weight [much like a Kardashian badonka…], it won’t be long before consumers notice. Yes, Pumpkins, as god is my witness, there will be flowers!
