The Caribbean Tourism organization is seeking nominations for the annual Andrew R. Parris Award, to be presented during CTO Week in Toronto at the end of October. The deadline for submissions is September 13th.

The award, now in its third year, recognizes the long-term dedication and professionalism of a travel counsellor who actively promotes tourism to the Caribbean.

“Canadian travel agents are so important to the Caribbean,” says Sylma Brown Bramble, CTO Director, North America. “Their efforts in promoting our region are key to our success and we are delighted to acknowledge this each year.”

The CTO is soliciting submissions from national tourist offices, tour operators, airline representatives and hotel and other suppliers to the Caribbean.  Submissions, not to exceed 300 words, should be sent by email to Gail Stewart (gail.stewart@rogers.com).  Nominees will be considered by a panel of judges from the travel and hospitality industry and evaulated for their contributions to the Caribbean tourism industry and commitment to increasing tourism to the region.

The award is supported by the RMR Group Inc., a sales and marketing company long involved in promoting the Caribbean.

The award was created and named in honour of Andy Parris whose career spanned over 40 years promoting tourism to the Caribbean. Parris strove to educate, train and motivate travel professionals.  “Andy was a legend in the Canadian travel industry, and it is always an honour to be able to acknowledge his lifetime of work in the presence of his peers and others who share his passion for promoting the region,” says Brown Bramble.
