WestJet Vacations has distributed a release today commenting on ACTA's open letter this week which calls for open dialogue, stronger communication and honest business practices from all travel operators.
Chris Avery, Vice-President, WestJet Vacations said, "WestJet Vacations fully supports the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies in their call for a stronger relationship between travel suppliers and travel agents. We are proud to work with the travel trade as we align our business with the needs of travel agents. We acknowledge many of the concerns addressed in this letter, namely pricing practices, and the impact they have on consumers. Our progressive pricing practices speak to WestJet's commitment to transparent pricing. We firmly believe that travel agents should never be surprised by extra taxes or service charges that are non-commissionable."
"WestJet Vacations does not place any part of its package price in the non-commissionable tax and service charge field. This is worth up to two extra percentage points in commission for travel agents," continued Chris Avery.
"The message of this letter is clear," concludes Chris Avery. "WestJet Vacations remains committed to fair and transparent pricing practices and to a strong relationship with our travel trade community."
