The readers of Condé Nast Traveler have voted San Francisco the #1 city to visit in the United States for an 18th consecutive year.  More than 25,000 votes were cast in the 2010 Readers’ Choice Survey.

This year marks the 18th consecutive time that San Francisco has won this category in the magazine’s annual survey, a first-time accomplishment for any destination or property. San Francisco was followed by Charleston, SC (#2) and Santa Fe, NM (#3), making the top three an exact replica of 2009 results.

Worldwide, San Francisco shared this award with Florence in Europe; Bangkok in Asia; Cape Town in Africa; Vancouver in the Americas; and Bermuda in the Caribbean.

San Francisco- based airline Virgin America was also a winner, selected as the #1 airline in North America for the third year in a row.

“San Francisco continues to be recognized for its scenic beauty, diverse neighbourhoods, restaurants and cultural attractions by travellers worldwide,” said San Francisco Convention & Visitor Bureau President and CEO Joe D’Alessandro.
