Canada’s airlines and tour operators plan to resume flights to Cuba in JUN, according to Lessner Gomez, Director of the Cuba Tourist Board in Toronto.

Air Canada, Sunwing and Transat will relaunch in JUN, followed by WestJet and, in OCT, Swoop, reports Prensa Latina.

A spokesperson from the Cuba Tourist Board confirmed to Open Jaw that airlines and operators are targeting a JUN resumption to the island, but warned the date remains fluid as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves.

Flights to the Caribbean and Mexico are currently suspended through 30APR, as part of an agreement between the federal government and Canada’s airlines and operators. However, carriers have already suspended their operations past this date.

Sunwing announced on 01APR it would suspend all southbound flights through 23JUN. Transat announced a mid-JUN restart in its Q1 earnings report. Air Canada on Wednesday announced it is suspending flights through the month of MAY, while WestJet extended its temporary suspension of international sun flights to destinations until at least 04JUN.
