Sunwing has announced partial service to select sun destinations from YYZ and YUL beginning 30JUL 2021, including Cancun and Punta Cana. This new service is the result of the Canadian government's recent announcement that it will begin easing border restrictions for fully vaccinated Canadian travellers of 05JUL 2021.
OpenJaw reported the announcement, which states that fully vaccinated Canadians will be exempt from hotel quarantines, and qualify for newly-relaxed airport and arrival processes.
“After a difficult year, we’re excited that Sunwing Airlines will be returning to the skies with initial service from two of our busiest gateways,” said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing. “With vaccines rolling out across the country and borders reopening, we’re seeing a significant increase in demand for travel nationwide."
Sunwing's initial flight schedule from YYZ will be as follows:
- To CUN on Fridays and Sundays starting 30JUL 2021 and on Saturdays starting 21AUG 2021
- To PUJ on Saturdays starting 31JUL 2021 and on Fridays starting 20AUG 2021
- To VRA on Mondays starting 02AU 2021
- To MBJ on Sundays starting 22AUG 2021
The initial flight schedule from YUL will be as follows:
- To CUN on Fridays and Sundays starting 30JUL 2021
- To PUJ on Saturdays starting 31JUL 2021
- To VRA on Mondays starting 02AUG 2021
Sunwing also notes that additional flights and routes may be added in the near future to reflect consumer demand, and that more gateways and destinations will be revealed for the fall/winter flight season.
