Air France’s First Sustainable Airbus 220 Leaves Montreal for Paris

Air France is awaiting the arrival of its first sustainable Airbus 220 after it received new livery from the Airbus paint shop in Mirabel, near Montreal.

The new livery sports Air France's brand colours and features a winged seahorse which, according to the airline, symbolizes the brand's history.

By the end of SEP 2021, Air France will receive 60 Airbus A220-300s which will replace its previous Airbus A318s and 319s for its short and medium-haul network. The airline is also preparing for the new arrival by having pilots perform additional training. In SEP 2020, eight instructor pilots attended an 8-week training course at the Airbus training centre in Montreal. Now, those same pilots will be training their peers at Air France's flight simulation centre at CDG.

The new Airbus 220s use 20 per cent less fuel that previous generation aircraft and reduces its noise footprint by 34 per cent.

The Air France Airbus 220s will have a carrying capacity of 148 passengers in a 3-2 cabin configuration.
