Toronto has the honour of being the first destination for Lufthansa's newest aircraft.  The German carrier has announced that YYZ will be the first destination for its upcoming Boeing Dreamliner 787-9s, set to begin service to Canada in the airline's 2021/2022 winter schedule, although schedule details have not yet been released.

Lufthansa made the announcement via social media. It took to Twitter to formally announce the news that it would provide service to YYZ from FRA aboard the new Dreamliners.

It also noted that other destinations for the new 787-9s will soon be announced for the first half of 2022.

According to Simple Flying, Lufthansa has yet to receive its new aircraft, and delivery is still months away. The airline was initially expected to take possession of its Dreamliner order by Christmas 2021, but due to quality-related restrictions imposed by the FAA, the delivery date may be pushed into 2022.
