WestJet Logs Best On-Time Performance Period Since March

In its latest operations and performance report, released on 14SEP, WestJet shared good news, and what's hopefully a harbinger of better times at airports following a summer of air travel chaos.

For the latest period 05-11SEP, the airline is reporting that it's maintaining a week-over-week 'strong completion factor,' with 98.9 per cent of all scheduled flights throughout the week completed.

Even better is its improved on-time performance. WestJet says that, using 3rd-party flight statistics provided by Cirium, 76.8 per cent of the airline's departures arrived within 15 minutes of their scheduled time.

According to the airline, that's a "significant" improvement over the last two weeks - a 13 per cent increase in on-time performance.  And it represents WestJet's highest 'A15' on-time performance since MAR of this year - before travel restrictions were lifted, demand for travel surged and a summer high season overwhelmed a recovering air travel industry.

The latest data reveals a consistently-improving trajectory of on-time performance in recent weeks for WestJet, and the most recent report follows its news last week that the airline finished AUG ranked by Cirium as third among North American airlines for completion.
