Jetlines crewIt’s launch week for Canada Jetlines.

Open Jaw was on board its inaugural, YYZ-YYC flight Friday, 16SEP (pictured), and Canada’s newest airline has since confirmed that it’s launching its first scheduled flights beginning Thursday, 22SEP.

Jetlines is initially offering twice-weekly flights from Toronto to Alberta on Thursdays and Sundays, from 07:55am EST – 10:10am MST, returning from YYC to YYZ at 11:40am MST – 17:20 EST.

Later in the fall, that will increase to three flights per week, Thursdays through Sundays.

In the long term, the airline plans to expand service across Canada and also to the U.S. and sun destinations on its growing fleet of Airbus 320 aircraft.

Sabre GDS

The news of its first scheduled flights come as the company also revealed it has concluded a long-term partnership with Sabre for global distribution.

Sabre’s travel marketplace, GDS, will provide travel agencies around the world with access to the airline’s complete range of travel products, including fares and seat availability.

Canada Jetlines says the move will support the airline in “powering future revenue growth while reaching key market segments associated with the GDS.”

“We are pleased to have achieved this agreement with Sabre, which broadens Canada Jetlines’ distribution capabilities to meet our international growth objectives,” said Duncan Bureau, Chief Commercial Officer of Canada Jetlines.

“This partnership aligns with our projected distribution strategy of providing the right content in the right channel. As a leisure airline, Canada Jetlines recognizes the key role that travel agencies play in our success.”

Jetlines also reminds the travel trade that travellers can book reservations and vacation packages with preferred travel agents who can earn up to 10% commission on all base fares when contracted directly with the airline
