Winter Weather Travel Advisory in Effect in Southern Ontario

A winter storm is headed to southern Ontario, sparking weather travel advisories for 15FEB.

Forecasts call for a “short duration of heavy snowfall” in the afternoon, with two to four cm’s of snow per hour and a total accumulation of five to 10 cm’s.

The snow is expected to reduce visibility on the roads and at YYZ and other southern Ontario airports.

“Strong northwesterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h are expected this evening and overnight after the main area of heavy snow has moved through,” The Weather Network reports. “Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.”

The YYZ Twitter/X feed said Pearson airfield surface maintenance specialists are prepared with 106 specialized pieces of snow removal equipment to keep runways clear.

FlightAware.com is reporting only minimal disruptions for the morning of 15FEB.
