The uncertainty that's hung over Air Transat since its flight attendants earlier this month rejected an agreement reached between the airline and its flight attendants' union in JAN is over.
Air Transat announced in a media release late 26FEB that 62.7% of its flight attendants have now voted in favour of federal mediators' recommendations for a new deal.
It's not a resounding vote of confidence - less than two thirds of the airline's flight attendants voted 'yes.'
But it does put an end to uncertainty for Canadian air travellers, still reeling from the weekend's sudden closure of Lynx.
According to Air Transat, the new collective agreement with its flight attendants is retroactive to 01NOV, 2022, and will be in force until 31OCT, 2027.
"Our flight attendants play a key role in Air Transat's success, and following an unprecedented process, we are pleased to offer competitive working conditions. This outcome will enable us to continue the dialogue of the past few months and move forward," says Julie Lamontagne, Chief People, Communications and Sustainability Officer of Transat.
"We are also grateful for the patience and trust of our customers during these uncertain times."
2100 Air Transat flight attendants are represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees. The union has not issued a statement yet on behalf its Air Transat flight attendant members.
