This week, Air Canada issued its 2023 Annual Report, highlighting its strong financial results, including record annual revenue.

F/O Charlene Hudy, chair of the Air Canada pilot group, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), issued the following statement in response:

"Air Canada's recently released 2023 annual report highlights its financial success. However, the airline failed to acknowledge the contributions made by their employees, specifically the pilots, who played a significant role in helping them achieve these impressive accomplishments," said Hudy.

She continued, "Air Canada pilots continue to negotiate a new collective agreement with the airline, currently with the assistance of a private mediator. During today's annual meeting for shareholders, and onward, Air Canada has an opportunity to recognize the current market trends in the aviation sector, and the value and expertise our pilots bring to our company and passengers every day."

Air Canada, in fact, did thank its employees in the annual report. President and CEO Michael Rousseau also singled out the role of Air Canada workers at the Air Canada annual general meeting this week.
"Air Canada has a solid foundation to build upon and a clear vision for the future as a leader in the global aviation industry, connecting Canada to the world, and as a trusted partner for all our stakeholders," Rousseau said in an Air Canada press release about the annual report. "I thank our customers for their loyalty, our 39,000 employees for their hard work and dedication to safe operations and our investors for their support throughout the year.
"I am immensely proud of our employees, notably for their tenacity, ambition and commitment to our customers," he said in a letter in the annual report, which refers to employees more than two dozen times.
"I want to conclude first by thanking our 39,000 employees globally for their hard work and dedication," Rousseau said at the Air Canada AGM on 28MAR. "They safely transported more than 46 million passengers in 2023 and did so with care and class.  Their commitment, shared passion, and professionalism are among the main reasons I am so optimistic about our company’s future."

The report is available in the Investor Relations section of www.aircanada.com.
