Air Canada has cancelled some of its upcoming flights to Israel due to the conflict in the Middle East, and the Canadian government has issued first-level travel warnings for several countries in the region.

Israel closed its airspace on 13APR due to attacks by Iranian missiles and drones, forcing airlines around the world to cancel Saturday flights.

Israeli Airlines said operations were returning to normal on 14APR.

“Flight schedules from Tel Aviv were expected to be affected and travellers were advised to check flight times before going to Ben Gurion International Airport,” Reuters said.

Air Canada cancelled its Saturday flight from YYZ to TLV. Their website also shows flights were cancelled on 15APR and 16APR.

“We’re very sorry, this flight is cancelled because of government or regulatory restrictions outside our control,” Air Canada said on its site.

CNBC reports Israel’s El Al canceled more than 20 flights on 14APR.

Emirates Airline cancelled its Dubai-Amman flight, which was scheduled for 14APR. Air France and British Airways cancelled Tel Aviv flights that day, while British Airways also scrubbed a flight to Amman, CNBC said.

Meanwhile, the Canadian government issued warnings on 14APR telling citizens to avoid all travel to Israel, The West Bank, and The Gaza Strip. It issued the same warnings for Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. Ottawa suggests exercising a high degree of caution for Canadians visiting Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

Strong caution warnings also are in effect for many European countries, including the UK, Spain, Germany, France, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands.
