
How long have you been with the tourism board? Since 2000. We have 11 staff in Canada based in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
What did you want to be as a kid? A diplomat.
What was your first job? Selling cell phones in Mexico City back when they were new – it was a tough sell as they were so expensive, and big! (Laughs) We used to call them ladrillos – the bricks.
If you could have any job in the industry, what would it be? You know, if I won the lottery I would keep on doing this job.
What’s your biggest extravagance? Good food.
Is there anything you won’t eat? Probably those weird animals in China.
Describe your dream vacation. Somewhere relaxing and with culture and good food. Such as the Yucatan!
What’s your favourite airline? I like the Mexican airlines but must say I’ve had extremely good experiences with Porter.
What do people not know about you? I’m a decent soccer player. But I’m not in good shape now!
Any hobbies or interests? I’m learning how to play golf but I don’t see a lot of talent there.
What’s on your iPod? Wow! A lot of music, over 4000 songs – mainly traditional Mexican music.
What would you like people to know about Mexico? That we have such diversity. You can go back 30 times and always see something different.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years? Still helping my country to bring the dollars and jobs we need down there.
