Biting Questions with Tammy Mosher-Cecco, Vice President,
Total Vacations

Where were you born? In Montreal. My dad was in the military so we moved around a lot, mainly within Canada but also to Los Angeles for two years. That was very cool!

How long have you been in the business? 23 years! I had a brief stint in retail before becoming a destination rep for six years with Adventure Tours in Mexico, DR and Central America.

What was your first job? A Club Z hostess for Zellers!

Ever had a brush with fame? In LA I got to see and meet quite a few including my heartthrob at the time, Scott Baio.

What skill or talent do you admire in someone? The ability to speak dynamically and with charisma.

What’s your favourite airline? WestJet is a great partner, but I would love to try Emirates.

What do people not know about you? People assume I’m Italian or have a Latin background but I’m actually very Anglo – my family’s from Nova Scotia.

Any hobbies or interests? Not much time for those with kids who are 8, 6 and 2 ½!

If you could have 100 pounds of something, what would it be? Time. I’m not sure how much that weighs, but I value it greatly.

What’s your favourite all-time movie? I’m a romantic at heart and I’m a sucker for a love story. The Notebook got quite a few tears out of me.

What do you always travel with? Pictures of my family.

What was your worst holiday? I’ve never had a bad holiday but I do remember a family cruise I booked for 25 people when all I wanted to do was relax. It was definitely not relaxing!

What keeps you awake at night? Nothing, I’m the best sleeper!

What will be the biggest challenge for the industry in the next 12 months? Other than the usual overcapacity, I think things are looking much more positive.

Who do you most respect in the industry? My husband Dave Cecco for all that he’s accomplished with Total Vacations since starting it at the age of 21.

What’s your favourite destination in the Total Vacations portfolio? I have to say Mexico holds a special place in my heart for its people and diversity… the food, the history…

What’s your worst habit? (laughs) Probably trying to control all aspects of life! I should learn to go with the flow.

What are you really bad at? There’s lots… but singing and golf, to start with!

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years? Hopefully found a bit of balance in my life and spending more time with my kids!
