with Carine Taylor of TPI travel in Stittsville, near Ottawa

Where were you born? In a little place called Maria, in the Gaspé region of Quebec.

What was your first job? Working at the deli counter at Sobeys in Quispamsis, N.B.

How long have you been in the business? Since June of 2010. I was a stay-at-home mum for a number of years and had a friend working at TPI and looked into it…and I’ve never looked back!

Tell me about your first airplane ride. One of our friends had a tiny Cessna and when I was a teenager I went up for a ride.

How has the business changed since you got into it? Everything is so techy now and there are so many cool apps we didn’t have before – I can upload docs to an app for my clients and they love it!

Do you have a specialty? Luxury and Virtuoso product…5-star. I love selling groups, I love selling Sandals and Beaches.

If you could have any job in the business what would it be? This one! I’m happy serving my clients and planning awesome trips.

What was your best fam? It would have had to be my first, I went to Jamaica with the tourist board, to see the resorts and meet the staff. It was awesome!

Who do you most admire in the industry? Nolan Burris is a guru in working with agents and he’s fantastic. Also, Mike Marchez, he’s full of great ideas for how to run your business, implement client retention and so on.

What drives you crazy? Can I admit to invoicing? Just kidding! (laughs) Weather. Flight delays. Cancellations.

What’s the first thing you do when you get into a hotel room? I take pictures from every angle including bathrooms!

Do you have a magic sentence to close the sale? Let’s do it!

Do you have any time management strategies? Blocking time in my calendar.
