Silversea to be First Ultra-Luxury Line to Resume Alaska Cruises

Silversea's Silver Muse, AlaskaAfter being the first of the smaller-ship, ultra-luxury cruise lines to resume cruising offshore with voyages in Greece and Galapagos from JUN, Silversea is now set to lead the way in the category in sailing in American waters.

Silver Muse will resume round-trip sailings from Seattle starting 29JUL,  making Silversea the first ultra-luxury cruise line to begin operations in Alaska this summer.

The news follows the passage of the Alaska Tourism Restoration Act, allowing cruise ships to temporarily bypass Canada en route to Alaska.

Silver Muse will sail a series of 10- and 11-day cruise itineraries. These extended voyages will include the Sawyer Glacier and the Mendenhall Glacier, and enable guests to experience Alaska’s signature landscapes, wildlife, and remote communities, such as Ketchikan, Juneau, Wrangell, Skagway, and Sitka.

Silversea’s new voyages to Alaska will be added to the cruise line’s website on 07JUN.

In addition to Alaska, the cruise line has announced a return to Northern Europe this summer with all-Iceland cruises on the Silver Shadow. Itineraties circumnavigate Iceland on three, 10-day voyages from Reykjavik, beginning 30JUL.

Silversea  had previously announced its largest-ever collection of voyages in Iceland as part of its voyage collection for 2021/2022 in response to very high demand from its guests. Following the pandemic, the revised trio of cruises circumnavigate the island and highlight its natural beauty and geological wonders, including sightseeing at volcanoes and glacier-sculpted fjords, walking across lava fields, visiting waterfalls and bubbling hot springs and more.

"We proudly continue to lead the ultra-luxury cruise industry’s healthy return to service and commend the leadership of Alaska and Iceland for taking steps to advance the safe resumption of global travel,” says Roberto Martinoli, Silversea's President and CEO.

“The return to service is fast gaining momentum, and we’ve seen exceptional demand for travel in Alaska and Iceland.  We’re eager to welcome back our guests to unlock unforgettable experiences aboard Silver Muse and Silver Shadow while contributing to the local economies of the incredible communities we visit.”
