Explora I Day 5: An Ocean State of Mind

It’s rare to actually experience a tagline. What I mean is, that companies often sweat over a mission statement, a slogan, which has little to do with the actual experience.

There are notable exceptions. Disney does make people happy. Carnival truly is fun. It may not be the ideal choice for your luxury clients, but they do it right.

Explora Journeys offers up ‘the ocean state of mind’ as their motto. What does that mean? Yesterday both my husband and I lived it.

We’d been treated to an amazing lunch (the endless supply of tiny bubbles didn’t hurt), a relaxing massage and time in the sauna, after which we retired to our balcony and curled up under the cashmere blanket, watched the waves and listened to the endless silence.

Those ‘aaah’ moments are few, but when they happen, you hold on and think this is what travel is all about.

A moment when your mind turns off, and you simply absorb the experience of being somewhere unique. Like out at sea.

I don’t think that can happen unless you feel very well taken care of. Fed. Watered. And pampered.

The Conservatory is just the place for pampering. Free-flowing champagne. Gorgeous ocean views. And private alcoves for snuggling in.

It’s not the only swimming pool on board. There’s an infinity pool at the back of the ship, but when sailing the Atlantic in October, this sheltered area is ideal.

As Diane Cook, owner of 7Seas2See and Trevello member, poetically put it to me: “What is the ocean to me? Alive, no boundaries, calm, movement, grace, wild, breathtaking, serene, enveloping and peaceful. I would say I have been able to experience most of those feelings and periods of time through this Explora Journey.”
