Four Seasons Survey of its Social Media Followers Reveals What Luxury Travellers are Looking for in a Post-Pandemic Vacation

Earlier this year, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts polled its 1.1m Instagram followers to determine their most popular travel motivators, must-visit destinations and bucket list experiences.

"After more than a year of paused travel, we are excited to see positive signs of recovery in many markets as we welcome more and more guests back to Four Seasons," says John Davison, president and CEO, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

"We are seeing a steady increase in global bookings and occupancy, indicating that our guests are starting to put their travel dreams into action and returning to what they love doing most."

The Instagram poll revealed:

  • 66 per cent of respondents are looking to explore somewhere new after the pandemic
  • 80 per cent indicated that they are planning a trip for the simple love of travel after not being able to do so due to COVID-19
    • The remaining 20 per cent categorize the next trip as an occasion to do celebrate something special
  • 69 per cent are looking to travel to relax
    • 44 per cent also added their vacation would include spa and wellness activities
  • 33 per cent of respondents plan to take a road trip, while the other
  • 67 per cent are opting for a long-haul destination; and
  • 56  per cent of respondents are looking for somewhere that "all about the food."

And the luxury hotel and resort company provided some examples of its properties that could satisfy returning travellers’ itches:
