The Caribbean's First In-Ocean Pool

Wymara Resort + Villas

Wymara Resort + Villas, located on Grace Bay Beach in Turks and Caicos, has unveiled a new in-ocean seawater pool, believed to be a first for the Caribbean.

Spanning 130 ft by 30 ft and covering 3,900 square feet, the pool offers a shallow end (3-5 ft deep depending on tide) and a deep end (6-9 ft deep) with a sandy bottom throughout.

The seawater pool was the brainchild of the resort's Canadian-born owner, Bruce Maclaren, who wanted to recreate the allure of ocean pools from Australia.

“While ocean pools aren’t just an Aussie thing, they do inspire a kind of fervor there that borders on the fanatical,” says Maclaren. “They’re probably more in the public eye now than ever. Maybe it’s Instagram — they’re so seductive to photograph. But having experienced the benefits of ocean pools and the communities that evolve around them, I thought, well, maybe we can do this here.”

Situated near the resort's villas, the pool is surrounded by palm trees, white sand, and turquoise waters. It is replenished with fresh seawater from the Atlantic and features a timber deck, a refreshment bar, and loungers with umbrellas.

“I couldn’t be happier with the results,” said Maclaren. “With views of the bay and up the cliff to the villas, it’s hard to imagine a more soothing setting to start or end the day off.”

Wymara Resort + Villas expands leadership team

Wymara Resort + Villas has appointed Miguel Carrillo as the Director of Sales and Marketing. With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including roles in hotels, airlines, and tour operators, Carrillo brings years of expertise to the resort. He joins Wymara Resort + Villas from Malliouhana Resort in Anguilla, having spent the majority of his career with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

“It’s a thrill to join the team,” says Miguel. “I look forward to showcasing the unparalleled experiences the property has to offer and contribute to the success of this exceptional Caribbean gem.”

New penthouse package

The resort has also introduced a Penthouse Package, offering large suites with ocean views, private hot tubs, and outdoor kitchens.

Guests taking advantage of the package will receive VIP Fast Track service at the airport, a private transfer to the resort, and a welcome treat. The pricing for this offer starts at $1,385 USD per bedroom from JUN to OCT, with a minimum stay of three nights.

This offer is fully commissionable.
