Emirates General Manager Canada Mary Heron has the World Cup spirit
The scene at Café Diplomatico
As the World Cup drew near, I thought I had prepared some pretty slick plans to catch some of the action during office hours. However, last week Emirates helped take my work ditching, World Cup watching ambitions to a whole new level. Sadly, I’ve yet been unable to replicate the same sense of slacking accomplishment that I achieved on that 1st World Cup afternoon on the patio of Café Diplomatico in the heart of Toronto’s little Italy.
True to their reputation for doing things in a very big way, Emirates hosted an “afternoon off” event of the highest caliber - complete with plenty of great food, cocktails, live music and, of course, soccer. In fact, I was so distracted by the ambiance (and the incredible gift bag of EK branded loot), that I just about missed Mary Heron’s one serious business-related announcement. Emirates are offering all BSP authorized EK travel agents in Canada a 4% commission on all public fare tickets plated on Emirates. I think Emirates is on to the fact you may need some extra motivation to be productive during the World Cup.
I’d like to thank Emirates for putting on such a great party and broadening my view of what a lack of productivity during the World Cup should look like, and I know they are appreciating all the advertising I’m personally doing on their behalf sporting my new EK hat, gym bag and little soccer ball.
You’re welcome, EK.
