On a lovely fall evening at the Park Hyatt in tony Yorkville, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau captured the essence of travel in one phrase: creating the perfect moment. A number of destination experts from Hawaii's six major islands, from Kaua'i to Lana'i, spoke glowingly about the beauty and unique culture of Hawaii.

Each 'talked story' in relating their ‘perfect moment’ -- from personal family rememberances of picking coffee on the largest private plantation in North America, to watching the sunrise for the summer solstice. Travel agents were invited to help their clients create their own pefect moment by matching up individual tastes and lifestyles with the ideal Hawaiian getaway.

Home to one of the world's largest volcanoes and the world's tallest sea mountain,Hawaii is a place of fierce contrasts and welcoming people.

The evening included detailed product training on each island - from local markets to the best restaurants and shopping.

As I left the hotel with my fresh flower lei around my neck, I had a brief sensation of having experienced a bit of what Hawaii is about.
