It’s hard not to have one’s pulse uptick a tad when thinking of Emirates. Besides the posh expectations of an A380 aircraft, associating the airline with positive, fun and entertaining experiences has always played a major part in building the Emirates brand. That’s what Don McWilliam, Emirates’ new manager for Canada, said last week at the Post Draw Luncheon for the Breeder’s Cup Challenge at the Woodbine Racetrack. Emirates is a title sponsor for the race that took place last Saturday and I was lucky enough to be one of their guests for the post draw festivities.

Former NHL player and current broadcast personality, Jeremy Roenick, was on hand to take part in the ceremonial draw of the post positions. He entertained the crowd for a while with great stories from his 18 seasons as a player.

Lucky guests were treated to a delicious and extensive lunch buffet while also having the opportunity to mingle with some of the jockeys and horse trainers. It was a great fall afternoon at the track and I left with a sense of positive association in regard to Emirates and their representatives.

Emirates continues to achieve growth and rack up industry awards for their service, with their marketing initiatives largely focused on sporting event sponsorships. If it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it, and I wouldn’t want them to. I’m enjoying their parties too much.
