Adventure Center President, Dallyce Macas, invited 13 guests to a unique experience Thursday night at Toronto’s Dish Cooking Studio. Darrell Wade, CEO of Peak Adventure Travel, Steven Larkin, Intrepid’s President, and Andrew (Apples) Appleyard from Exodus were Dallyce’s co-hosts for an evening unlike any other industry event.
Before sitting down to a delicious dinner, guests got down and got their hands dirty preparing the same 3 courses for charity. Breaking off into 3 different groups, guests prepared a winter greens salad, a baked pasta entree, and best of all, lemon curd tarts for dessert. Dish chefs guided everyone through the recipes and offered useful cooking tips as well. What’s great about cooking in somebody else’ kitchen? No clean up or dishwashing required!
The final product of everyone’s hard work: 40 meals that were delivered to Interval House the next day, just in time for lunch.
Interval House is a shelter for women and their children who are fleeing domestic abuse and seeking refuge. The organization provides a bed, food, therapy sessions, community programs and supportive housing for these women, as well as taking the children on outings to local attractions and amusements.
There were no presentations that night, no slide shows, videos or self-promoting. It was all about getting together, sharing stories, laughs and experiences, and cooking for a cause.
