Travellers who are looking for different experiences are turning to South America – and Peru is becoming a popular choice. According to Harish Shroff, Indus Travels’ Business Development Manager of Eastern Canada, he has witnessed considerable growth in demand for the diverse destination over the last 3 years.

Now in its 4th year of operation, Only Latin America Tours is a specialized division of Indus Travels. Their recent presentation dinner in YTO attracted about 60 agents eager to stay abreast of their latest product offerings. Joining Shroff in hosting the event was Juan Forteza, PromPeru Account Manager from VoX International and Juan Carlos Jouvin, Account Sales Executive at Taca Airlines.

Diners enjoyed a buffet dinner that included seafood paella and a Peruvian caramel meringue parfait. Guests also sipped on South American wines imported from Peru’s neighbouring country, Chile.

Starting this year, the tour operator is offering 4 new types of travel comprising: small group travel; luxury private tours; independent/private tours and Amazon River cruises. Shroff shared the podium with Forteza, who highlighted Peru’s many attractions including Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and the Urubamba Valley. Then Taca’s Jouvin quickly mentioned the airline’s 3 flights a week between YYZ and LIM. “It’s a complete package,” said Shroff. “You have the airline, the destination and the tour operator!”

At the end of the presentations, an evaluation form to gain agent feedback was passed around. “The evaluation is a formality from PromPeru,” said Shroff. “But it will definitely tell us many things.” Shroff will have plenty of opportunity to apply the feedback to future training events. Only Latin America Tours and their travel partners have a busy summer ahead with 18 Peru presentations scheduled across Canada running from April until September 2012.
