Jambo Kenya relaunch

An enthusiastic “Jambo!” opened VoX International’s recent luncheon at Yorkville’s Sassafraz as Susan Webb welcomed guests and invited them to celebrate the launch of the new Kenya Travel Specialist Program for Canadian Travel Agents. “Jambo!” was the loud response in unison from assembled agents, operators and airlines.

Both Susan and VoX’s Account Director for Kenya, Barb Finn were colourfully garbed in traditional colourful dashiki dresses. And, to mark the occasion we dined on a specially created Kenyan inspired menu featuring kachumbari salad and main courses served with githeri and sukuma wiki with Chapatti and cardamom scented rice.

On hand to meet the Canadian trade and share their special insight into the Kenyan experience were the KTB’s Director of Marketing, Jennifer Opondo, the Regional Marketing Manager for the KTB, Jonathan Koinange and from Ottawa, Adan Mohammad of the Kenya High Commission to Canada.

The relaunch of the Jambo Kenya Specialist Program is an upgrade of their previous ‘KATS Program’. The new program is capable of tracking agent bookings and offers a variety of rewards and incentives for graduates. After completing the 5 lessons and the final exam, Canadian travel agents will be eligible for exclusive FAM trip opportunities, the Master Specialist certification level and consumer leads from the KTB. Agents are invited to register for the new course at www.tauniv.com.

Kenya has been enjoying a significant increase in Canadian visitation with an 8.2% jump in visitors in June of 2012 alone and an overall increase of 10% last year. And, it’s no wonder. The security situation in Kenya had calmed down significantly over the past year and it is certainly hoped that the recent incident in Mombassa and subsequent rioting will not affect tourists on safari. The Kenyan countryside, tribal areas and wildlife panorama are truly a life altering experience that should be on every traveller’s bucket list.
