To fete its anniversary, Exotik Tours chose an informal setting inside a meeting room at the Thomas Cook office in YVR. Staff and a group of preferred suppliers had an intimate celebration for the 3-fold event – to commemorate the company's 35th anniversary, introduce a new look for Exotik Tours and launch the new Worldbook.

Milling around, guests indulged in tasty hors d'oeuvres and drinks that included a pleasant pinot gris from Hungary. Our host, Exotik Tours' Michael Mullin, Director of Sales – Specialty Division for Western Canada, Ontario & The Maritimes, unveiled the company's new logo (shaped as a globe) and the Worldbook, an annual brochure which replaces the former winter and summer editions.

The Worldbook's cover, which was shot somewhere in Europe, looked nothing like a travel brochure but more like a fashion magazine featuring a stylishly clad female pulling balloons along. “We wanted something out of the norm that also reflects our specialty in Europe,” said Mullin. Worldbook has already been launched in Quebec and will be released sometime in October in Ontario.

Mullin provided a rundown of what's new and what's selling interspersed with light-hearted banter between staff and jokes thrown in for good measure. Exotik's V.P. – Specialty Products, David Boigné, who flew in from YUL for the event, provided an update on destinations in North Africa, saying that both Tunisia and Morocco are safe and that there have been no complaints from clients. Making a case for agents to work with Exotik, Boigné said that the company always looks into providing that something special, adding, “Everybody should call us.”

Next year, the company will be conducting an 8 day/7 night fundraising climb to the 5,895 m. peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro in July. Called the “Exotik Tours Kilimanjaro Challenge 2013,” the team of 20 will be lead by Exotik Tours staff and will raise funds to benefit the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Agents are encouraged to join as participants or donate to the cause. Exotik hopes to raise a minimum of $100,000 for the charity as well as to promote the importance of physical activities and healthier lifestyles.

Exotik Tours is part of the Thomas Cook group of companies. Agents stand to gain loyalty points when booking with them. Plus, those who “like” them on Facebook will get an extra $10 in loyalty points.
