Amid the party atmosphere, Vision 2000's Nancy Dosch had to keep up with business

I don’t know if Brian Robertson, COO of Vision 2000, hears the 1st line of Alvin Stardust’s song in his head as he looks out the window of his new YVR office, “I watched the planes come in on the early morning flights.” But, it certainly did for me as I sat in his office on the 21st floor overlooking Coal Harbour as the float planes glided and swooped in and out of the picture.

Vision 2000 recently held an open house for customers, suppliers and potential clients and guests were taken in by the views, despite the usual grey and rainy Vancouver weather.

The company wants to boost their presence in Vancouver and boy, they weren’t kidding. “When we were planning to have an office in Vancouver, we knew we had to open it downtown. It had to be a nice place as we sometimes bring potential clients here,” said Robertson. The office opened its doors in November 2012.

After closing its Vancouver outfit in 2007, clients continued to be serviced by staff who worked from home and from the company’s Victoria office. There are currently 8 employees at this new location and Robertson envisages that number to grow to 40 or 50 with its home-based staff moving into the space.

The bigwigs of the company turned up in full force, mingling with guests over hors d’oeuvres and drinks at an open bar.

As one of Canada’s major players in the industry, Vision 2000 is happy to be back on the ground in YVR. “It is strategic for us to be in Vancouver as it’s where the mining and resource companies are based,” said Robertson. Although corporate travel makes up the bulk of the business for the company, Robertson hopes to grow the leisure segment with help from its knowledgeable destination specialists.

Vision 2000’s Vancouver office is located at #2100-1177 West Hastings Street.
