It was a fun-filled getaway in Toronto for 5 lucky agents this past weekend for winners of the Fantastic Fridays promotional contest sponsored by Thomas Cook.
Throughout the month of May, agents who booked a Sunquest or FunSunVacations package product were eligible for weekly prizes and automatically entered into a draw for the grand prize. Grand prize for agents and their companion included 2 nights accommodation at The Fairmont Royal York in downtown YTO, Hop-On, Hop-Off tour of the city, dinner at Marben Restaurant and limo ride to the Air Canada Centre to see Beyoncé’s ‘Mrs. Carter Show’ world tour concert. The concert was viewed from the comfort of Thomas Cook's private box suite, and those residing more than 500km from the city received roundtrip air.
Winners were John Hellings of Loyalty One Travel Services Inc, Toronto; Denise Coburn of Travel Trust International, Toronto; Nicole Deforest of Tripcentral.ca, Guelph; Carmy Ciarlillo of Voyages Linberg, Montreal and Alexis Dyck of Marlin Travel, Brandon.
Open Jaw had a chance to catch up with the group along with Dawn Rzepka, Senior Director of Sales Canada for Thomas Cook at Marben Restaurant on the final evening of the weekend. While chatting it was revealed that winning was a surprise to most as no official entry form was needed. It was a nice surprise none-the less. Local winner Denise Coburn simply had to commute from one end of the city to the other before getting on the Hop-On, Hop-Off tour, but sill enjoyed the treat of being a tourist in her own home town.
Alexis Dyck of Brandon had never been to Toronto before and managed to see the Hockey Hall of Fame, take in a harbour boat tour and see a Jays game.
After a delicious family style meal it was off by limo to the Air Canada Centre to watch Beyoncé belt out tunes and strut her stuff for a solid 2 hour performance. Asked afterwards what he thought, John Hellings said, "It was wild!" There may not have been true die hard fans amongst the group before the evening, but there was definite consensus that it was a fantastic show.
