It has been more than 1 month since Open Jaw went on a FAM to Cuba with Hola Sun. I thought that I would never see the group again because so many of the travel agents are scattered throughout Canada. My assumption was wrong. We had a mini reunion last week at the Hola Sun Fiesta Cubana inside Mississauga’s Le Treport Banquet Hall.
About a dozen of the 20 travel agents from the FAM were there along with the entire Hola Sun team that escorted us through Cuba’s hotel collection. President Jose Trevino was also in attendance wanting to personally thank everyone for their hard work over the past year.
“I would like to thank the travel agents, the hoteliers and the Cuba Tourist Board for the support you have given to Hola Sun during the past season – it has been a wonderful season for us,” Trevino said. “We wanted to give you this Cuban night as a taste of the Cuba that Hola Sun shares with its customers.”
Having experienced Hola Sun’s version of Cuba, I can say that the night accurately portrayed the experience – without actually being in Cuba of course. The vibe was there: Cuban dancers and Cuban music… all enough to take guests – particularly the ones who were on the recent Hola Sun FAM – into a state of internal sunshine and warmth.
“The purpose of tonight is to also introduce the agents to some of our suppliers and update them on some of the new products that are coming out and that are featured in the Hola Sun brochure,” Angelo Chiesa, General Manager, said. This of course includes the new 1,014-room Valentin Perla Blanca opening this month in Cayo Santa Maria; the 1,176 room Meliá Jardines del Rey opening this winter in Cayo Coco and the 423-room Meliá Marina Varadero which includes 126 condo apartments and is currently undergoing renovations to add another 222 apartments.
