Tito's handmade vodka from Texas
Vodka wall inside Pravda
Austin and Air Canada walk into a bar –
Toronto's Pravda Vodka Bar to be exact.
They sit down and the bar tender asks them what they want to drink.
They say: “Tito's handmade vodka from Texas," which is actually what the Austin
CVB served at a recent event inside Pravda.
The bar tender asks: “What are we celebrating?"
Austin and Air Canada answer: “We're celebrating the new, year round service
between Toronto and Austin launching 18MAY onboard Air Canada Express."
“Whoa!" Says the bar tender. “That's hotter than a honeymoon hotel!"
Speaking of hot hotels, Austin
has revved up its meeting and convention space plugging old faithfuls such as
the Four Seasons Hotel and the Hyatt Regency as well as supporting newcomers JW Marriott and
the Fairmont.
The Marriott opened this February. Currently, it is the largest hotel in Austin
housing 1,012 rooms and 112,000 sq. ft. of
meeting space. In 2017, the Fairmont Austin will take this title when it opens
with 1,066 rooms. It will not only be the biggest hotel in the city, it will
also be the 2
nd biggest structure towering at 580 ft. - currently, the tallest structure is
the residential Austonian.
“We are really transforming our meeting and convention spaces to cater to a
national and international audience," said Steve Genovesi, Senior V.P., Sales
& Services, Austin CVB. “The new flight from Air Canada is another accolade
for us," he added. “It will allow us to continue to cater to business and
leisure guests and attract even more visitors through its vacation packages."
In tune with the summer festival season, ACV has made it known that they are equipped to support travellers who
need help organizing groups and
attending events. The tour operator offers flights, with connections out of 66
Canadian cities, hotels, transfers, car rentals and event tickets. And, since
Austin is dubbed the 'live music capital of the world' the partnership between
the 2 is obviously a perfect fit. Austin's
festivals include South By Southwest (SXSW), Euphoria Fest, Levitation Music
Festival, Pachanga Music Fest and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
Austin local Gina Chavez was on hand at the Pravda event performing songs from
her latest album
Up.Rooted. At this year's SXSW, Chavez won 3 Austin Music Awards, including Best Female Vocals, Best Latin Traditional and Best Latin Rock. She has been
knighted the Official City of Austin Music
Ambassador and is currently on tour with her band.
