SN’s Christophe Allard
What’s a celebration without a cake?
The aircraft’s business class with solo and duo seating
It’s always exciting when an airline launches a new route, and the folks at Brussels Airlines (SN) were very pleased and happy at an event last week at YYZ marking the start-up of their new connection between Belgium and Canada.
The event, which had been delayed by the tragic attacks in Brussels last month, paid testimony to Belgians’ strength and unity.
Christophe Allard, the carrier’s Director of North American Sales & Commercial Strategy, told the crowd of media and dignitaries that “Tourism is picking up again, and we strongly believe in the potential of the Toronto-Brussels route. The events were tragic but we will continue to restore and move forward.” Today, he added, Brussels is the most secure airport in the world.
As we nibbled on waffles and frites (how Belgian!) we learned that Brussels is a great gateway to Europe, with France and Germany less than 2 hours’ drive away. The carrier also serves 19 destinations in Africa, and it’s a good choice for African-bound clients thanks to the short and convenient connecting times.
Flights are currently operating 5 times weekly on A330-300s which feature a spacious business class with 180° flatbeds and menus designed by a Belgian multi-Michelin starred chef. By the end of June the carrier plans to introduce an “economy plus” seating area comprising 8 rows of Y with additional legroom, meals on chinaware and more.
“We have the best beer and the best chocolate in the world,” a smiling Allard told us. “If you haven’t been to Belgium, we miss you.”
