Air Canada Celebrates Non Stop Growth

Air Canada invited their top agency partners to celebrate the season with them last week in Toronto.

The location at One Eighty on the 51st floor of the ManuLife Centre at Bay & Bloor provided spectacular views of the city during an intense snow storm. The endless stream of red tail lights clearly visible up and down Yonge, Bay and across Davenport definitely did not add to the festivities though. It took some dedicated partners and staff over 2 hours to make what should have been a 20 or 30 min. trek. But the room was full of enthusiastic guests who quickly forgot their harrowing journey as they greeted partners, colleagues and friendly competitors.

Virgilio Russi, AC’s Senior Director Sales invited everyone to join in a toast to the carrier’s biggest and best year ever for both results and growth. AC added 22 new routes over the past year and he reported that all of them are operating successfully. That new lift represented 18% system growth and there’s more to come. 15% more actually - as new routes will continue to be added throughout 2017.

Virgilio gave us all some perspective on the projects the planning and sales teams have been tasked with. He recounted that in his former position as Director of Planning for Global Sales, it would take he and his team an entire year to launch just 1 new route. So, yes, if you have detected a bit of a change in pace at AC – you are not alone!
