On Friday, the St. Lucia Tourism Authority, Consulate General of St. Lucia and Sunwing Vacations held an exclusive VIP event in Toronto at The Jazz Bistro in Yonge-Dundas Square.

Although the focus of the event was St. Lucia, there was a little Hollywood thrown into the mix with the guest of honour, Joseph Marcell, a native St. Lucian best known for his role as Geoffrey the butler on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Marcell was officially recognized by the Consulate General of Saint Lucia for his outstanding contribution to Arts and Culture Worldwide. In addition to playing a Bel-Air butler, Marcell is a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and has appeared in productions of Othello and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Andrew Ricketts of Total Public Relations, walked the audience through St. Lucia’s highlights from world famous dive sites to hikes in the Piton Mountains, jungle zip lining to spa days with breathtaking views of pure paradise.

St. Lucia, always referred to as a ‘she,’ is known for her beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters and luscious landscapes. St. Lucia remains the world’s leading destination for weddings and honeymoons, with unique and spectacular resorts.

With direct flights on WestJet, Air Canada and Sunwing from both Toronto and Montreal, St. Lucia is easily accessible for many Canadians. Visitors can also easily island hop from St. Lucia to Martinique, Barbados and St. Vincent.

Representatives from Caribbean Tales, Toronto’s Caribbean Film Festival, were also in attendance highlighting their programming in Toronto and their media mentoring programs within the Caribbean islands. Joseph Marcell is also a proud mentor in this program and premiered a film at the Caribbean film festival.
