Usually when Duncan Bureau takes off on a new aviation adventure, it means a move, across the country or across the Pacific. This time he might have to cross the hall.

Still, as Bureau, Air Canada’s Vice President of Global Sales for the past four years, takes on a new role as President of Air Canada Rouge, and John MacLeod, previously Vice President, Commercial Strategies, takes over Bureau’s sales post, it made a great excuse for a cocktail reception at AC’s downtown Toronto offices.

Senior Vice President, Revenue Optimization Craig Landry praised Bureau’s “incredible personality” and said his “energy and passion are well-suited to the Air Canada Rouge brand.”

MacLeod, who was Bureau’s first boss in the industry back in the days of Canadian Airlines, drew laughs when describing the difficulty of managing the mercurial personality.

“He was a business analyst who was supposed to be behind a computer analyzing the competition at Air Canada. But I couldn’t keep him behind the computer. He always wanted to be talking to people. That’s the personality we see here today.”

For his part, Bureau told MacLeod he will have the backing of an excellent team at AC sales.

“It’s been an incredible privilege, with lots of fun and excitement. And I’m very excited about joining the Rouge team. I have lots to learn – I had a meeting with the Chief Pilot and no idea what he was talking about, but I’ll get there.”
