Survey: 91 Per Cent of Canadian Snowbirds Intend to Travel This Winter

According to a survey conducted by Snowbird Advisor, 91 per cent of Canadians intend to travel next winter.

“The survey confirms that Canadian snowbirds have no intention of spending another winter in Canada,” said Stephen Fine, President of Snowbird Advisor.

The survey took place 23-25JUN and involved over 4,000 participants.

Only about 8 per cent said they were unsure if they would go away this winter, mainly due to uncertainty over the Canada-U.S. border.

The U.S. was the number one destination of those intending to travel at 83 per cent of respondents. Mexico was second at 6 per cent, the Carribean and Europe at 3 per cent, Central and South America at 1 per cent and other destinations at 4 per cent.

Over 66 per cent said they plan to spend at least three months away. That’s a complete reversal of the case last year.

“Last winter, approximately 60% of snowbirds stayed home due to fear of COVID,” Fine said.
