Feds Extend 'Pause' on Random Testing to Mid-July

In addition to extending existing border measures such as the ArriveCan App until 30SEP, the federal Government has announced it will continue the suspension of mandatory random testing at air borders until mid-July.

Ottawa first announced the pause on mandatory random testing at Canada's airports for fully vaccinated travellers on 11JUN and was originally set to last until 30JUN to help airports reduce delays.

Mandatory random testing continues at land border points of entry, with no changes. Travellers who do not qualify as fully vaccinated, unless exempt, will continue to test on Day 1 and Day 8 of their 14-day quarantine.

The government notes that it continues with its plan to move testing outside of airports to select test provider stores, pharmacies, or by virtual appointment.

"Moving testing outside of airports will allow Canada to adjust to increased traveller volumes while still being able to monitor and quickly respond to new variants of concern, or changes to the epidemiological situation," said the Public Health Agency of Canada in a statement.
