3-Part Virtual Series to Address Travel Industry Mental Health, Burnout

Are you a travel professional who is stressed to the limit? Burned out?
Volunteer travel industry organization Let's Get Uncomfortable is calling out the elephant in the room of the post-pandemic environment, where "we've seen a spike in mental health issues among travel professionals. And yet the onus is often on workers to develop wellness habits, rather than on the industry to make systemic change," says LGU's Britney Hope in a media release.
To address this and help get struggling travel industry members onto a better path, LGU is organizing an online panel series: "BURNOUT: Confronting the Tourism Industry's Mental Health Crisis."
The virtual, three-part series begins on 11OCT, and will feature "honest conversations about the gap in care for workers experiencing burnout."
The online panels wil be facilitated by LGU’s Shalene Dudley and Maria Ines, and will explore the challenges being faced by tourism professionals juggling the survival of their careers and the quality of their mental health -- and how industry leaders can step up to help.
LGU says the "Burnout" mental health series will feature conversations with mental health professionals, advocates for emotional safety in the workplace, and tourism professionals, examining "what it takes to keep your business, career - and your wellbeing - afloat in this ever-evolving industry."
The first event, on Tuesday, 11OCT will see Shalene speak with Hassel Aviles, co-founder and executive director of hospitality non-profit global leader in mental health advocacy, Not 9 to 5, about the current structures of mental health support that exist within the tourism industry, where the gaps are -- and how to go about filling them.
  • Event #1 - Burnout: An Industry in Crisis with Shalene Dudley & Hassel Aviles, Not 9 to 5
  • Tuesday, 11OCT 2022; 10-11:30 a.m. ET
